Adaptive Mountain Biking Trail Standards

aMTB Standards — Developed for riders, by riders, builders and advocates.

It’s here – for you

In 2020, Kootenay Adaptive team members, along with partners far and wide, began a project which would see guidelines developed for adaptive Mountain Biking. Testing trails, talking with advocates, testing some more, working with builders and finally more testing and we are pumped with the results.

Kootenay Adaptive’s mountain biking trail guidelines are meant for free public use, to help grow the sport. The intentional side benefit of adaptive mountain biking trails, is that these trails open mountain biking up to the greatest amount of users possible. From active elderly, to toddlers on run bikes. Endorsed by IMBA Canada, these trails incorporate all that we love about mountain biking, but open the sport to even more riders.

Are you planning for a more inclusive mountain biking community in your region? Contact us for more information regarding our adaptive mountain biking trail guidelines, programs and for tips regarding trail design for adaptive riders.

This is a free resource for communities pushing for more inclusive access. Donations for continued adaptive mountain biking development are gratefully received.
